I sent a couple to Lawry's for dinner. I prepaid in advance with a credit card (entire bill, gratuity, 20%, and valet. I wanted my guests to have no expenses at all. Reservations were made, credit card accepted, and all was fine. They had dinner on Saturday, September 3, 2005. On Sunday, I heard through the grapevine that my guests had left a tip, as well as paid the valet. I called Lawry's immediatly. I was told by the manager, Wayne, that he investigated and that my guests were well aware that everything was taken care of. This statement is a lie. Unfortunately, I had to call me guests to find out the real story. They told me that when they asked for the check, the waitress told they it was taken care of and walked away. They wondered about leaving a tip. They waited for the waitress to go by. The gentleman told her that when he leaves a tip, he usually pays the bill. He questioned whether to give her a tip or leave it on the table. At this time the waitress should have said that gratuity was also taken care of. She told them to leave it on the table. This waitress was deceitful. When speaking to the manager, he was very rude. Said that he would not investigage further, would not call the waitress a liar, and what would I like to do. I was so taken aback, I had no answer. Should I call my guests a liar. He assured me that many people leave an extra tip. I assured him that this couple was not in a position to do that. They probably dipped into their rent money. I love Lawry's. This was the most embarrassing experience I have ever had. As far as the valet, the manager admitted that it was overlooked. I asked for the corporate office's number and was given a wrong number on top of all this. Please advise where I can get some kind of satisfaction. I think that the waitress and manager should be fired!!!!!!!!!!!!! -- 9/12/2005 11:22:09 AM
